Sati: Blatantly Whitewashed Facts to Guilt-trip the Civilisation

Every time that guns are brought out blazing against the Hindu way of life over television debates, the two usual topics stay the same: the first, casteism and the second,  Sati Pratha. The first has been talked about in detail over various articles, showing that the caste-tribe network was an imposition on the prevailing Jati-Varna system, which existed with a much different purpose and in a much different manner, and led to the marginalization of these communities. The second of these, namely  Sati Pratha , has not only not been decoded in such a great depth but also, more often than not, one is led to believe that it was a forceful practice meant to embolden patriarchy, that was only abolished by a chosen few messiahs with the cause of ending suffering for women, namely the Roy-Bentinck pair (implying special British help), without the will of the society at large, that suddenly completely wiped the practice out. None of these phrases in the last sentence, I emphasize none,...

The Balkanisation of Bharatvarsha: Hideous Missionary Agenda Behind the North-South Divide

An enduring scholarly discourse in recent years has revolved around the “manufactured” secessionist propensities in Southern India. Utilizing a term like “manufactured” is imperative, given that these secessionist inclinations are not indigenous to the region, having emerged only after the arrival of Christian missionaries. Every time parties such as the BJP, which are ascribed to be Hindu-nationalist parties, win in a Northern state and lose in a Southern one, various varieties of jibes are used to degrade Hindus and our culture. There is debate over migration and the rise of Hindutva politics, and more often than not, Hinduism comes under fire rather than the specific political parties whose ideals some may not conform to. The North, often seen as the Hindu bastion, becomes an object of enmity for many who conform to these secessionist ideals. The problem with this mindset is that it has been ingrained into the minds of many living in Southern Bharat over centuries. For several centu...

Nupur J Sharma and The Sufi Truth: A Dark History

Nupur J Sharma, on her recent remarks about Chisti, a celebrated Sufi saint, that brought his dark history of rape, bloodshed and hatred for Hindus to light, received tens of thousands of death and rape threats against not only herself but also her family. So what is the truth about Sufism? Let's take a brief look, that makes up for less than a drop in the ocean, at Sufi History. When one thinks of Sufism, the first thing that probably comes to mind is good Sufi music or a mesmerizing dance in the court of an emperor. This, however, is not the entire truth. Sufi history has been through phases of denialism and has seen a great deal of white-washing to give it its current secular status. In truth, the much-celebrated Sufi culture, its music and dance is steeped in blood and has the darkest of histories. The reader must understand that the many sects of Islam have always warred with one another to claim that they are the true followers of Islam. Sufism, stripped of its contempora...
